Tru Collins is a NYC based actor, singer, and dancer. She is a recent graduate of Manhattan’s Professional Performing Arts School and has experience in numerous forms of entertainment. She played Tiffany on CBS’s soap opera Guiding Light, has also worked on NBC, ABC, E! and Lifetime. She recently honed her comedy chops as a principle cast member on a new sketch comedy television pilot, LFTV (with writers from SNL and The Late Show with David Letterman) and wrapped filming I’d Just Like To Say with Kurt Leitner, slated to hit the festival circuit this year. As a singer she has sung all over New York City and the tri-state area, performing her own work as well as singing back-up for artists in soul, pop, and rock. She recently had the honor of singing with Grammy winner Latrice Varret at the Nokia Theater in Times Square as the opening act for the legendary Aretha Franklin.
A classically trained pianist, Tru has played in bands and as a session player while consistently accompanying herself and other singers at gigs. A trained classical ballet dancer, she has toured with a modern dance company, assistant choreographed the critically acclaimed Off-Broadway show, Joy, and performed in music videos for hip-hop artists Ludacris, Fabolous, The Dream, and Rick Ross. In recent years, she had the privilege of traveling across the country with Mattel, Inc. making appearances as the live Barbie spokesperson.
When not working she spends her nights creating body-painted performance art pieces downtown. Currently, she is playing Linda in the gospel/soul musical workshop “Soul Kitchen” and filming the highly anticipated new film Spring Awakening on Nantucket.
