
Born in Sweden, brought up in the Netherlands, yet a full-blooded Finn, Johanna Telander is an international traveler and freelance artist currently splitting her time equally in music, acting and modeling pursuits. Johanna has quite a list of professional experiences especially in the music business, despite her young age of twenty-something. Having collaborated with professionals in Europe and the US, and working with Warner and BMG in Helsinki, Johanna’s young career took shape singing back-up tracks for signed artists and performing in many cover bands including jazz trios, disco bands, big bands and fusion bands. Johanna also recorded solo projects for several labels including Universal Music, scoring with the last a record deal and a top-selling& most-played list hit single in Finland in 2003. During these recording pursuits in Finland, Johanna additionally hosted a show called Dream Factory, a program concentrating around the life choices of teens and young adults. After following love and moving to OHIO in 2004, Johanna got her Bachelors in Music (Jazz Studies) from the Capital University Conservatory of Music, where she made many musician contacts with whom she gigged throughout her academic career. One of the most amazing opportunities while there was working as a soloist of the still active Rick Brunetto’s Big Band. In 2007, Johanna got a chance to move to New York where she studied acting at the American Musical and Dramatic Academy. Now, in 2010 her recent credits include an Off-Broadway appearance as Fraulein Kost in Cabaret, a turn on the runways of Fashion Week and the International Beauty Show, and regular musical performances as a jazz soloist of, among others, the David Fletcher Band. You might have also caught her performing her own originals in one of the many live music venues of NYC’s indie scene. Always looking for new opportunities to utilize her creative abilities, Johanna remains grateful for all those who have continuously believed in her.
