    Today on CPreports:
    – At least two dead after suicide bombing at US Embassy in Turkey: police
    – Three-Term New York Mayor Ed Koch Dies
    – ‘Gay’ dog saved from euthanization thanks to Facebook campaign

According to media reports, a suspected suicide bomber detonated an explosive device at the entrance of the US Embassy in the Turkish capital on Friday, killing himself and one other person. US Ambassador Francis Ricciardione told reporters that a guard at the gate was killed in the 1:15 p.m. blast, and a Turkish citizen was wounded. The bomb appeared to have exploded inside the security checkpoint at the side entrance of the embassy, but did not do damage inside the embassy itself. Police examined security cameras around the embassy and have identified two people who could have been the suicide bomber. There was no claim of responsibility yet, but both Kurdish rebels and Islamic militants are active in Turkey. Homegrown Islamic militants tied to al-Qaida have carried out suicide bombings in Istanbul, killing 58 people, in 2003. (If any of you watching this know more about what happened please post your comments.)

Ed Koch, the Bronx-born Democrat who won three terms as mayor of New York and developed into an international personality, oversaw the city’s financial recovery in the late 1970s only to see it quiver in the face of AIDS and a crack-cocaine epidemic, a decade later. New York faced myriad difficulties when Mr. Koch joined a crowded field of Democratic rivals running for mayor in 1977. High crime and a five-borough blackout followed by looting that summer made it seem nearly ungovernable, and a serial killer who called himself “Son of Sam” was at large. Mr. Koch balanced the city’s budget, restored its credit and helped revive the confidence of New Yorkers. Over 12 years in office, he replaced the patronage appointment of judges with a system of merit selection— a reform he called his proudest achievement—and launched a $5.1 billion city-funded affordable-housing construction. Even after his failure to win a fourth term, Mr. Koch remained a public figure, writing novels and memoirs, reviewing movies and serving as a television judge on “The People’s Court.” Always weight-conscious, he became a spokesman for the UltraSlimFast diet program—and for Dunkin’ Donuts. Rest in Peace Mr. Koch.

So I don’t think I have ever heard a crazier story than this: A dog owner sees his dog mounting another male dog, assumes he is gay, and turns him in at an animal shelter in Tennessee, to be euthanized! Homophobic bastard – sorry for my language. But Facebook to the rescue! Facebook users refused to let the Tennessee animal shelter euthanize the male American bulldog mix. A Facebook user, under the name “Jackson Madison Rabies Control Stalker,” often visits the kill shelter looking for dogs to advertise for adoption. The 39-year-old mother and animal lover featured this unwanted dog on her page, in a post that received more than 4,200 shares and 1,405 comments overnight. The sweet dog has been rescued and please oh please somebody make ignorance go away. So for any of you who have any doubts left: for male dogs to hump each other is a dominance game! My male Shiba Inu puppy humps me on a regular basis and not because he thinks I am hot (which I am obviously) but because he is trying to dominate me and assume his role as pack leader, which he won’t, but can’t blame the guy for trying. DONT euthanize your animals for stupid reasons! is the message here.
